From Gamification to Conversation: How we're Changing English Learning Landscape in MENA

As the founders of an English learning app, we've witnessed firsthand the challenges faced by individuals in the MENA region in mastering the English language. While the market is filled with language learning tools, most rely heavily on gamification, grammar and vocabulary apps and fail to provide authentic conversational practice. Our research revealed that learners often struggle to progress, taking up to 10 months to move from one level to the next. This inspired our mission to revolutionize English learning in the MENA region with efficient and cost-effective language learning app.
The start reality is current language learning tools in MENA focus on gamification and grammar, leaving learners stranded without genuine language proficiency. Learners invest time and effort but find themselves trapped in a cycle of limited and inefficient progress. Traditional methods mute the essence of human conversation, hindering true progress and leaving a gap between aspirations and reality. Even with 1:1 human teacher led interaction services costs anywhere between $6 - $25 per session, Which costs learners an average of $1300 per year. Our annual subscription costs $90, so you clearly see that difference in value proposition, benefits, services and pricing - Not just saying we're the best, in fact proving it ;)
Driven by this gap, my co-founder Steve and I sought to create a solution that prioritizes conversational practice and create an AI language learning tool that uses traditional methods with AI conversation - that resembles human-like conversation. We envisioned an app that offers genuine, unscripted conversations and immerses learners fully in the English language. Our goal was to architect a revolution, challenging the status quo of English learning. Our English learning app provides tailored feedback, improvement notes and exercise recommendations, transforming every conversation into a step towards fluency.
Our app marks a new era in English learning in the MENA region. It prioritizes authentic conversations over gamification, offering dynamic engagement at an accessible cost.
